Junior championship. Round four - 30 June 2007

Keeley Guegan secures second win; Alex Thompson places second

Eleven players took part in the fourth round of the Junior Petanque Championship held for the first time at St Mary’s at attracted 11 young players; with 7 year old Cerys Thompson and Aaron le Herissier aged 12 competing for the first time.

Players were grouped by ages, and each played one game with each other in their group.

Top player for the second month was Keely Guegan who had two wins with a points difference of +16. Six players each won 2 of their 3 games, with Alex Thompson’s points difference of +8 taking second place and Nicole Power and Jacob Romeril tying for third with +6. There was another tie for 5th place between Dominic Perez and Laura Therin each on level points.

Competitors have to compete in a minimum of 4 of the 6 rounds to have their best 12 scores taken into account for the final championship places.

To date 6 of the players have completed the 4 rounds. These are; Keely Guegan with 7 wins to date, Jacob Romeril with 6, brother and sister Jade and Dominic Perez with 5, and Wesley Bowen  and Gabriella Martin with 4. All can of course change with 2 more rounds to complete.

The next round is to be played at the Carrefour Club’s premises at Clos Nicolle, Mont Couchon on 25th August.
