Magic Touch Winter league report 28th February 2010
The results of the matches in Division One this week have left the league wide open and any one of five teams still in with a chance of taking the trophy! There were some very long games with the tightest of results and victories for Country Gang who beat leaders Vagabonds, Taylormade who beat Outlaws and Coin Tourgis who beat Les Hirondelles. The remaining division one match between Bean Around the Block and Occidentals was not played.
While Vagabonds maintain their first place, Taylormade return to second two points behind. Outlaws and Coin Tourgis tie on 13 with Country Gang on 12. In the run in to the close of the season, Vagabonds take on Occidentals, Coin Tourgis and Taylormade – no easy games there! Taylormade also play these same three teams so again a very tough climax for them! Outlaws have perhaps an easier run in with Bean Around the Block and Les Hirondelles but they also have to face Country Gang who have won some significant matches this winter. Coin Tourgis play both the top two and finish against Occidentals. Assuming Occidentals do not slip up in their closing matches, it is looking like Les Hirondelles and Bean Around the Block who will be relegated next winter.
Only one fixture was played in Division two, the others having been re-arranged in light of the forecast for storms. Leaders Grantez continued their superior form with another 5-1 win, this time over St Mary’s. With just two more matches to play, Grantez are worthy winners of Division Two and will be playing first division next winter. The race is still on for the other promotion place. While Grouville are currently in second they can still be caught by any of the next four teams.
It is certainly going to be an exciting finish this season!
