JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP – 2008

RULES - 5th March 2008

  • Competitions will be held on the LAST Saturday of each month from March to August commencing at 2pm.A final session and presentation will be held on 20 September also commencing at 2pm.
  • Entry will cost £2 per Junior for the season, irrespective of how many of the sessions are attended.
  • To be eligible for inclusion in the overall season’s placings, players must compete in a minimum of 5 of the 7 sessions. However, they may compete in as many or as few as they wish.
  • Final placings will be determined by the highest number of wins, followed by points difference, taking the best 15 results into account for each qualifying player.
  • The age limit for junior competitors is 8 years minimum and 16 years maximum, younger players may be considered at the discretion of the committee. Age to be determined as at 1 January. I.e. any player aged 7 or aged 15 on 1 Jan 2008 may compete through the 2008 season.
  • Players will (providing numbers permit) be divided into two age groups – 7 to 11 and 12 to 15 and winner and runner up trophies will be awarded in each group at the conclusion of the season.
  • Players must check in by 1.45pm on the day of competition and after 20 minutes of ‘warm up’ will be drawn into pairs for the afternoon’s 3 games.
  • Each game to be played to 9 points in the 7 – 11age group and to 11 points in the 12 to 15 age group.
  • Each game will have a designated ‘Umpire’.

Dates for 2008 competitions are:

March 29th at Carrefour Petanque Club premises at St Lawrence.

April 26th at Jersey Petanque Club premises at Les Quennevais.

May 31st at Carrefour Petanque Club premises at St Lawrence.

June 28th at Jersey Petanque Club premises at Les Quennevais.

July 26th at  St Mary’s Petanque Club premises at Youth & Community Centre.

August 30th at Jersey Petanque Club premises at Les Quennevais.

September 20th at Carrefour Petanque Club premises at St Lawrence.
