Junior Event - 7 October 2006

Following the success of the first Junior competition, all interested junior players are invited to enter the second Junior event which will also be held at Les Quennevais, by kind permission of the Council of the Jersey Petanque Club.

Teams will be made up of 1 adult and 1 junior (minimum age 8 years and maximum age 16 for the junior player)

It would be helpful if the adult (or junior) has a basic knowledge of the game, but training can be given if required.
Should the junior prefer to be paired with an Association player, please indicate on the entry form attached.

If there are sufficient entries there will be two competitions run concurrently; one for teams with Junior players aged 8 to 11 years and one for teams with Junior players aged 12 to 16 year old.

Four games will be played at each competition, each to 9 points. Junior boules are available to loan if required, again please indicate on the entry form to reserve a set.

To ensure all the young players get to play with an experienced Petanque player during the competition, they will be paired with a different adult player, in each round after the first.  This will not only help them learn more about the game and it’s tactics, but will also give all entrants a more even chance of success.

Refreshments will be available for purchase at the clubhouse.

Medals will be awarded to the winning and second juniors at each competition.

If you have any queries at all please call Elaine Paisnel on 851580. or e-mail secretary@jpa.org.je

It is hoped that once there are sufficient junior players in the Association, events will be held for junior players only and competitions could be held once a month through the summer giving winners at the close of the season.
