St Mary's Petanque Club
St Mary's is the newest petanque club in the Island..
The Chairman is Ken le Brun, Secretary is Robert Dudley and their Competitions Officer is Robin Stockton.
St Mary’s Petanque Club was founded to coincide with the opening of our community centre. Since then we have developed to the point where we now field two teams in the second division of the Jersey Petanque Association’s Winter and Summer Leagues. The teams are called St Mary and Fleur de Lys and their fortunes can be followed in the JEP, or by logging on to the JPA’s website at www.jpa.org.je
At the club’s recent AGM it was strongly felt that we needed to expand our activities. We aim to do this in two ways. Firstly there will be the opportunity on Tuesday evenings for newcomers to come to our terrain, which is between the Community Centre car park and the tennis courts, and learn how to play this enjoyable game. Boules will be provided and the first open evening will be on April 17th, starting at 6-30pm and lasting for about an hour. These evenings will also be practise nights for our league teams. Our second idea to develop the club will be to hold our own tournaments, which will be open to all club members. Details for these will depend upon JPA fixtures, but at the moment we are hoping to organise singles, doubles and triples club competitions.
